About Us

Wildscapes started life as Grow Wild. In early 2022, we formed a community interest company to carry on our work with schools and communities around the East Midlands.

What do we do?

Wildscapes designs, creates, renovates, improves and maintains outdoor spaces to bring people together with the natural world to learn, improve their health, grow food, and support wildlife.

Working with schools and colleges

Where do we work?

We’re based in Leicester and focus on the East Midlands, but it’s always worth getting in touch if you’re further afield.

Over the years we’ve worked in more than half of the primary schools and with several secondary schools in Leicester, as well as with many schools around Leicestershire, Rutland and in Nottingham.

What services do we offer?

We can advise you on how to get the most from your school grounds and then turn that advice into reality. Afterwards we can help you use the space effectively and even maintain it for you! Our team is fully DBS checked and very experienced in working in schools.

So whether it’s Forest School, outdoor learning, growing your own fruit and veg, sensory experiences, quiet outdoor spaces for reading or mindfulness, wildlife areas, wildflower meadows, green roofs and living walls, or SuDS projects, we can help. Get in touch.

You can also look at our Gallery to see examples of the work we’ve done.

Involving the staff and children

If you would like to involve your school council, eco club, the wider student body or your staff team in the design of a project, and then get them involved in elements of the ‘build’, we can do that too!

Outdoor Learning

We create spaces for Forest School, minibeast hunting, plant life cycles, pond dipping and more

Space to unwind

Sensory gardens, mindfulness gardens, barefoot sensory trails and spaces for quiet, outdoor reading

Growing your own

Fruit and veg growing areas, on a large or small scale

Maintenance

Regular or occasional maintenance at affordable rates

Working in the community

Wildscapes can work with you on your pond, green roof, living wall, allotment or community garden project.

Moreover, we can help make your community spaces accessible to members of the community with a wide range of needs.

We also offer social and therapeutic horticulture (STH) programmes for people with mental ill-health. Sometimes known as ecotherapy or green care, STH brings people together with nature and uses gardening to improve their wellbeing.

Who we are

What is a community interest company?

A community interest company is an organisation that’s committed by it’s constitution to working for the benefit of the community.

CICs are regulated and must have rules in place to prevent their assets being sold off or otherwise diverted from being used for the community. This is known as an asset lock.

What is a co-operative?

Co-operatives are businesses, often social enterprises, that are run by the people that work for them. The workers are also the directors of the co-op.

Wildscapes is…

a co-operatively run, not-for-profit, community interest company.
